Members are given weekly points for food choices depending upon their present weight and their goal weight and are allowed to eat anything they like up to a preset maximum number of points per day and week.

The strength of the points system is that a points score is given to every food imaginable and there's no limit on the types of food that you can eat on this plan. The quantity which you can eat is dependent upon the accumulation of your food's points score for the day. Atkins Diet in a nutshell:

This plan calls for you to reduce your carbohydrate intake substanitally. This means the majority of the food you eat will be protein (and fat). The plan allows your body to first use up your remaining carbohydrates, when it cannot find any more, it then starts to burn fat, a process known as ketosis. Your body then uses your stored fat to provide your energy.

This proess causes you to lose weight and lose it fast.
